The Super Eagles have extended their condolences to team captain Wilfred Ndidi following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi. He reportedly died on Tuesday after being involved in a road accident.
The late Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, was said to have sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which occurred in Umunede, Delta State. He was later taken to a hospital in Agbor, where his death was confirmed.
In a condolence message shared on the Super Eagles’ official X (formerly Twitter) account, the national team expressed sympathy and support for Ndidi and his family during the period of mourning.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time, Wilfred,” the statement said.
Ndidi’s club, Besiktas, also confirmed the development on Tuesday, describing the incident as a tragic loss. In a statement shared on the club’s official X account, Besiktas said it was deeply saddened by the death of Wilfred Ndidi’s father, Sunday Ndidi, who died in a fatal road accident.
The Turkish club offered prayers for the late Ndidi and expressed sympathy to the Super Eagles captain and his family. “May Allah grant mercy to the deceased, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family and loved ones,” the statement read.
